Rumball Sedgwick Director Alastair Woodgate is cycling to Amsterdam this Friday and Saturday in support of Prostate Cancer UK.  Alastair is part of the St Albans City Football Club 15-rider team taking part in the “Football to Amsterdam” cycle ride, backed by The English Football League and the League Managers Association. There are 400 riders in total from across the UK taking part.

The 145-mile route kicks off at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Stadium in London.  The first half sees the cyclists heading to Harwich for the overnight ferry to Holland.  The second half sees the team cycling to the Amsterdam Arena, home of Ajax FC.

Rumball Sedgwick is pleased to be one of a number of local firms sponsoring the kit the team members will be wearing.

Alastair says “Yesterday I did my last 50-mile training ride around the leafy lanes of Hertfordshire – including some challenging hills.  The weather was gorgeous and, as you’ll see in the photo, the ride was broken by a welcome coffee in Whitwell.  The next time I saddle up it’ll be for real!”

Alastair says “thank you so much to those of you who have sponsored me – it means a great deal to me.  Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men.  Every hour one man dies from prostate cancer – that’s more than 10,800 men every year.  1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime.  Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition – to stop men dying from prostate cancer.  Through shifting the science to focus on improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, the aim is to stop prostate cancer being a killer.”
